As far as releasing games that are buggy, it is what Ubisoft is known for, Assassin’s Creed, The Division 1&2, Ghost Recon, R6S, all those games were released in a bad state, the only difference is that Ubisoft is not going to charge people $60 to play a broken game. Halo is only on Xbox which means that you are going to have a player base of PlayStation fans like myself who are going to be looking for something to play while we wait for MW2022. Only because it’s free to play doesn’t mean that they don’t have any money or do you think these developers are working for free? Call of Duty is going to fail because is going back to WW2 and nobody wants to play that shit, trust me I’m in the COD community, I would know. Ubisoft is the 3rd largest publisher of video games in the world, they have money to spend and of course they are going to market this game. Activision is going to release an Alpha and two betas for Call of Duty around this time and EA is going to do the same thing with Battlefield. We are almost 3 months away from November. You are right tho, this game could grow more hype if it wasn’t for bigger titles but IMO Xdefiant in its current state doesn’t seem like a game that could rival any FPS’ in the market (there’s no reason to play Xdefiant over BF or COD), I hope ubi proves me wrong tho□ The current videos about Xdefiant have nothing good to say about the game and would likely cary over to the unfinished alpha-testing. Lastly, ubi made a good decision making this a private test. Furthermore, considering the alpha came out unbalanced, ubi seems unwilling to spend money on proper game testers, showing me that they don’t want to spend too much on this project. Considering the trailers like to dislike ratio and the videos that show up when looking up Xdefiant, people are not expecting much from this game and wouldn’t be likely to spend money on it. Secondly considering this game is going to be free where is the funding for mass advertising gonna come from. People are already sceptical of the game being a free to play and are gonna write it off if it’s littered with bugs and micro-transactions. Releasing a semi-mediocre game at launch only works for games like battle field and cod because they have a devoted audience that would play the game though bad times. Ubi should focus on making the game perfect before even thinking of a release date. Watching people play games makes others want to play that same game. Also stop making people sign NDAs and allow them to stream it. Don’t wait until next year because by that time hype will die down. I know you don’t want to release something bugging so just like your reveal trailer, have a community manager encourage feedback to improving the game. If you wait too long, the players you wish to attract would have moved on to something else and won’t be interested in what you are offering even if it’s free. This could be a hit, but timing is important. You have a major marketing push with ads on Social media emphasizing that you made a game that would have cost players $60 last year, free this year and you can sponsor streamers to play your games. All those players with free time in their hands, that is when you release this game. By late September, most Call of Duty players would have stop playing Black Ops Cold War and will be waiting for the next one. SplitGate is also a contender but it has issues right now. Call of Duty and Battlefield are going to charge a $60 entry fee while Halo is going to make their multiplayer free to play. The rule is first come first serve or something like that. I also know that releasing the game in a good state is also important but this November three Juggernauts of games (Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Halo) are all going to be releasing at the same time and more importantly competing for the same player base (FPS fans). I know we are in the middle of a Closed Pre-Alpha test and there are still too many bugs and glitches to fix.
